Ruairi Hanafin, PhD
Chief Investment Officer
Ruairi is an entrepreneur, investor, and early proponent of blockchain technology. He co-founded Canadian agricultural technology startup Grain Discovery. He has held positions in research and portfolio engineering in the quantitative portfolio management teams at CPP Investments, where he also founded the blockchain research group, and at the Vancouver derivatives analytics company FINCAD.
He holds a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Trinity College, University of Dublin.
Jim Hwang, CFA
Chief Operating Officer
Jim is an accomplished institutional investor whose conversion to digital assets was gradual, and then sudden. He has researched and implemented quantitative strategies and total portfolio design at major global institutions including CPP Investments, Bosera Asset Management, and Barclays Global Investors, across the various geographies of Canada, HK/China, and the US.
He holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and a B.S. in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a CFA Charterholder.
Jay Vyas, CFA
Chief Strategy Officer
Jay has been in the quantitative investing space for over three decades and is an investor in digital assets.
Previously he was Managing Director, Head of Research and Innovation, at CPP Investments, and has also worked at Vyas Capital Management, Barclays Global Investors, Martingale Asset Management, and BARRA.
He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from UC Berkeley. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Jeffrey McLarty, CFA
Technology Advisor
Jeffrey is a seasoned technologist and thematic investor. He has nearly a decade of experience as an engaged member of digital asset communities.
Previously, he held development and leadership roles architecting risk and investment systems at Equitable Life of Canada and CPP Investments. He co-founded a startup that shipped products globally.
He holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering, with an option in Management Science, from the University of Waterloo. He is a CFA Charterholder.
Victor Li, CFA
Research Advisor
Victor is an early crypto adopter, investor, and educator. He co-founded DeFi Toronto in 2019 and teaches a blockchain course at York University.
Previously Victor specialized in investment research at CPP Investments and Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan. He covered multiple asset classes and macroeconomics.
He holds a M.A. in Applied Economics from the University of Victoria. He is a CFA Charterholder.
Bo Zhou, PhD
Senior Advisor
Bo is a seasoned business executive in global financial industry, with strong entrepreneurial spirits and love for technology. She was a Partner and SVP at IHS Markit leading its APAC Senior Relationship and Commercial Team. Previously, she served in various leadership positions at Bloomberg, BNP Paribas and Deutsche Bank in the United States. She was recognized as HSBC Top 20 Ethically Diverse Women Role Models in 2022 and Yahoo Finance HERoes Top 100 Women Executive in 2021.
Bo holds a Ph.D. in Material Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Financial Technology Option certificate from MIT Sloan School of Management, and B.S. degree from Fudan University.
